Please note that student accommodation in our region is scarce!
Your accommodation can be arranged by the STUVO-KHBO housing officer if you so wish.
We would, however, urge you to carefully observe all deadlines given below.
What does student accommodation (room or studio flat) entail?
The rooms are all equipped with a bed and mattress, wardrobe, desk and chair. They all have wash basins with running water (hot and cold). Bathroom and kitchen facilities are shared with other students. Studio flats have their own bathroom and kitchenette.
Rent varies between €300 and €360 per month and includes gas and electricity.
Internet is not always available, but if it is, you will be required to pay extra for internet connection in line with the number of users of that particular connection.
Duvets, pillows and sheets can be supplied at a small additional fee, but need to be booked in advance.
A room or studio is for one student only!
If you prefer your accommodation to be arranged by STUVO-KHBO, then please proceed as follows:
Complete the application form for accommodation, which will be sent to you by the KHBO’s international coordinator upon approval of your study period at KHBO.
It is of extreme importance that the date of arrival and departure be mentioned correctly.
You are always welcome to find your own accommodation , but bear in mind that accommodation on the private market is hard to come by, since most landlords are not eager to take on tenants who only stay for a couple of months.
Please return your application form, duly completed, to our housing officer.
Deadlines to apply for student accommodation:
1st semester: no later than 2 months before arrival
2nd semester: 15 December
2nd semester Bruges Business Class: 15 November
Applications for accommodation received after these dates cannot be guaranteed!
Our housing officer will send you an e-mail to confirm receipt of your application and will also book the accommodation for you.
We ask you to pay the refundable deposit of €250/€350 + a mediation fee of € 50 into the STUVO-KHBO bank account, details of which will be on the application form.
Once we have received payment, your booking will be firm.
Two weeks before arrival, you will need to send your flight/arrival details to our housing officer.
This in order to make timely arrangements with the landlord of the relevant student accommodation.
Upon arrival, you are asked to go directly to the student accommodation, where you will receive your rental agreement and keys. The first (two) months’ rent need to be paid up front and in cash to the landlord.
Payment of any subsequent months’ rent must be paid to the landlord upon mutual agreement.
In the event of any problems concerning accommodation, please notify our housing officer without delay.
End of lease: how to get your deposit back?
When you vacate the student accommodation, please arrange for the landlord to come and check the accommodation.
Provided the room is clean, the furniture and bed linen have not been damaged, and the keys are returned, the deposit will be paid back to you into your bank account. Our housing officer will send you a form by e-mail that you need to complete and return as soon as possible.
If you rent bed linen from STUVO you need to bring it back to STUVO. For students who use the bed linen in Ostend, we kindly ask them to return this to the KHBO Campus Ostend.
