International Managerial Week (Hotelmanagement)

During the month November the International Managerial Project is organised by Hotelmanagement.

This week is an exercise on organisation and management and is organised entirely by the students of the 3rd year. They will look after a small group of foreign guests (students and their lecturer) and offer them a programme on Flemish hotels, Restaurant and Pub Culture.

There will be at least six different events, possibly some classes by several lecturers in English at KHBO and a farewell happening at the end of the week.
During the last event a number of students from a 2nd and 3rd year bachelor hospitality management from Pirkanmaa Polytechnic (Tampere, Finland) and Akdeniz University (Antalya, Turkey) and one accompanying lecturer per group came to Bruges.

The KHBO-students Hospitality management operate as management team. There is a general manager (one student),  who leads the core group, coordinates the entire week, decides on the definitive version of the programme, is present at all events and stays firmly into contact with the international coordinator (IC) via e-mail and mobile phone.
There are also 3 Duty Managers. Together with the General Manager  they are the core group working closely together as a team. They are responsible for welcoming the guests, all arrangements with them and their accommodation. They make suggestions for their spare time, are in charge of a small budget and are present at as many events as is possible for them.
Finally there are also 6 Events Manager,  who are in charge of a group of students and responsible for one event.

Overall this project is reviewed in a very postive way by both organisers and participants: this projects proofs that learning activities and obtaining professional skills can be fun!
